Charlotte, NC: Extending the LYNX Blue Line

The LYNX Blue Line in Charlotte is a popular, effective transportation option for people who live and work in and around the Queen City. Since opening in 2007, the 9.3-mile rail line has served more than 15,000 passengers daily, taking citizens to jobs, education, and sporting events.
Now, the Blue Line Extension will add 9 miles to the system, expanding the state’s first light rail corridor from Center City to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The expansion will support economic growth in the city and offer even more ways to connect people with places, goods and services.

The New Mississippi River Bridge Is a Boon to the Region

Next year will be better for St. Louis drivers, thanks to the soon-to-be-completed new Mississippi River Bridge. The bridge will make a difference to congestion, safety, and commuting times. The new bridge will be about a mile north of the existing Poplar Street Bridge.

Loveland, CO: Big Thompson River Diversion
Tuesday, November 12th, 2013As a direct result of the flood’s damage, eroding river banks were getting closer to the area’s 48-inch water transmission line, which was the last pipe of three main lines that bring treated water to the town. It was determined that the best solution would be to force the river water away from the pipe. Something drastic had to be done, so it was decided to bring in trees to lie across the channel to create a dam to divert the river. ”

To improve highway safety, DOTD has developed a Louisiana Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) aimed at reducing fatal and severe injury crashes on Louisiana roadways. The goal of Louisiana SHSP is to reach Destination Zero Deaths on Louisiana roadways, which calls to cut the fatalities by half by 2030.
