A Preventable Crisis: The Economic and Human Costs of a Hudson River Rail Tunnel Shutdown

Two tracks vs. one track capacity

Because the damage from Sandy cannot be fully repaired without closing down each of the two tubes in the tunnel, the only way to avoid several years of sharply reduced service is to build a second tunnel that could keep full service running while the existing tunnel is repaired. But it will take several years to construct a new tunnel, and full construction cannot start until funding is secured. Each day that passes without agreement on funding for a new tunnel makes it more likely that a tunnel shutdown will happen first.

Watch Delaware DOT Building the Christina River Bridge

The project includes the bridge approaches and connections to the existing street grid.

Utah DOT: Understanding the I-80 Wildlife Overpass

The new wildlife overpass on I-80, just west of Parleys Summit, is now complete! In coordination with UDWR this overpass, the first in the state designed and built solely for wildlife, will help improve safety by cutting down on the high number of wildlife-related collisions in the area. In order to make the crossing as successful as possible, it’s important that the overpass is used by wildlife only. Check out this video and help us spread the word to #KeepItWild!

By analyzing data, AI offers much-improved forecasting models for floods. AI can also track the progress of wildfires. When linked with drone technology, AI is adept at locating missing persons after a disaster and providing accurate information regarding damaged buildings and landscapes to make rescue efforts faster and safer. It is efficient, less costly and amazingly accurate.
