The story of the Manette Bridge is actually a story of the people of Manette and Bremerton in the beautiful pacific northwest in Washington state. In the late 1920’s, it was very apparent that a bridge was needed to connect these two communities. The high cost prevented any financial backing being offered on a city, state, or even federal level. That didn’t stop these determined people though. With great energy and enthusiasm, they enacted a unique plan that made the Manette Bridge on the day it was christened, truly, the bridge of the people.
