Lake Washington, WA: Coffer Cell Launch

Tuesday, December 10th, 2013

On Nov. 26, 2013, SR 520 bridge construction crews launched a 660-ton coffer cell onto Lake Washington. This coffer cell will be used to create a dry work space so that crews can complete repairs to the end walls of Pontoon U and Pontoon V on Lake Washington.

State of Washington: Mudslide on SR 20

On August 11, 2013 a severe rainstorm swept through the Cascades causing eight different mudslides to cover the roadway. This particular slide, on milepost 154, is the smallest of the eight. Crews up there said one minute a lane was open and within minutes the roadway was impassible.

Medina, Washington: State Route 520 Girder Installation

Crews spent Oct. 15-17, 2011, installing 24 huge girders above State Route 520 in Medina, Wash., as part of a new overpass that will have a park and ride, transit access, landscaping and paths. Washington State: SR 99 Viaduct On Ramp Demolition

Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) fired up the demolition equipment at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, and spent the night crunching and breaking the nearly 60-year-old First Avenue S. northbound on-ramp into bits.
