Angus is a state certified search and rescue dog who also happens to be an employee of UDOT. His handler, John Woodruff, is an Avalanche Forecaster based in Provo Canyon. Friday, April 6th, 2018UDOT crews will work on 188 highway construction projects scheduled across the state this year, with a combined value of $1.46 billion. Planned improvements range from small sidewalk and street light installations, to the rebuilding of a 12-lane section of urban freeway. Within the Top 10, projects include widening and rebuilding freeways, constructing new interchanges or redesigning existing ones, and repaving and upgrading other local/regional highways.

Wednesday, September 27th, 2017UDOT closed Bangerter Highway near 7000 South the night of Aug. 19 while crews installed a new pedestrian bridge. The bridge is part of the Bangerter Interchanges project. UDOT is building a freeway-like overpass at 7000 S. This new pedestrian bridge over Bangerter Highway replaces one that was removed earlier this year to make room for the overpass.

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is utilizing an innovative system of high-pressure water jets to refurbish bridge decks on the I-215 project. This is one of the first times UDOT has used this hydro demolition process to reconstruct a bridge deck, and the first in the Salt Lake Valley. Hydro demolition will allow crews to be more precise while refurbishing the bridge, which saves time and money.
