West Jordan, UT: Timelapse – Moving the Bangerter Highway Pedestrian Bridge

And just like that, a pedestrian bridge on Bangerter Highway disappeared overnight (thanks to the hard work of our crews). The bridge was removed to make way for a new freeway-like interchange at 7000 South. The bridge will be relocated in Salt Lake County.

Utah DOT: Protecting Both Drivers and Wildlife

Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) crews started building one mile of wildlife fencing on westbound I-80 near Jeremy Ranch on Friday. The new wildlife fencing is the first phase in a long-term plan to reduce wildlife and vehicle collisions in Parleys Canyon.

Utah DOT: The Point Project Now Complete

The barrels are gone, all lanes are open, and The Point project on I-15 is now officially complete. This two-year, $215 million project widened I-15 to six lanes in each direction between 12300 South in Draper and S.R. 92 in Lehi, a distance of approximately seven miles.

Utah DOT: Repaving “Forrest Gump Hill”

Did you know Forrest Gump ended his years long run here in Utah? UDOT is starting a new repaving project in that area this week. The repayment of U.S. 163 will improve mobility and safety on 10 miles of highway, including the popular “Forrest Gump Hill.”

Utah DOT: Hydro Demolition

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is utilizing an innovative system of high-pressure water jets to refurbish bridge decks on the I-215 project. This is one of the first times UDOT has used this hydro demolition process to reconstruct a bridge deck, and the first in the Salt Lake Valley. Hydro demolition will allow crews to be more precise while refurbishing the bridge, which saves time and money.
