Traffic Congestion Prompts Miami-Dade County to Focus on Integrated Public Transit Expansion

In Miami-Dade County, one of three counties that comprise the teeming Miami metropolitan region, the interstate system, heavily traveled expressways, electronic toll lanes and express buses provide a matrix of connectivity, but the cost of better infrastructure, streamlining public transit to propel ridership, and the need for federal support are foremost.

Adapting Land Use and Water Management Plans to a Changing Climate in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, Florida

Our goals in this research were to help improve the region’s capacity to adapt to both a changing climate and changes in land use and to better understand the costs of both action and inaction across a wide range of futures. Drawing on experience in Louisiana and other coastal environments, we set out to build a transparent, interactive, and technically credible approach to decision support to assess vulnerabilities and gain insights into the potential strategies to reduce vulnerabilities under a range of climate and land use futures. Our work builds on the strong base of leadership and technical capacity already present in the region.

Talking Infrastructure at the 5th Annual Transportation and Infrastructure Convention

Steve also spoke with John Horsley, Executive Director of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officals (AASHTO), Bill Johnson, Director for the Port of Miami, and Mortimer Downey, former Deputy Secretary, U.S. Department of Transportation, currently Senior Advisor, Parsons Brinckerhoff.
