A deadline is looming for an important announcement by the federal government. On September 30, state leaders throughout the country will learn whether or not their electric vehicle infrastructure plans were approved. If the news is good, funding will be immediately available for planned projects. If the news is bad, those state officials will go back to drawing boards and try again to draft a plan that can be approved.

Financial Needs for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure in Indiana (2015–2034) is an assessment of water and wastewater infrastructure needs in Indiana. This study is sponsored by the Indiana Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (IACIR) and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA). The Indiana Association of Regional Councils provided research assistance. The Indiana Finance Authority State Revolving Loan Programs (SRF), U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development – Indiana (USDA RD), ACEC Indiana Funding Sources Committee, and the Indiana Rural Wastewater Task Force provided additional assistance and important feedback during the effort.

Today, cash-strapped U.S. cities and states are selling or leasing government assets, particularly transportation infrastructure. The sale or lease of such assets can be beneficial to the public; but the long-term nature of these deals makes them potentially far more risky than contracts to run bus service or repair city-owned vehicles.

With construction of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick (Trail) complete, it is time to begin to assess the Trail’s impact on the properties and businesses near the Trail and on the people using it. This report focuses on estimates of usage, surveys of users and businesses along the Trail, change in property values along and near the Trail, and the estimated fiscal impact of the Trail.
