Oregon DOT: Too Many Starlings On The I-5 Bridge

This 2012 video describes our hazing techniques to deter starlings from roosting on the Interstate Bridge which carries Interstate 5 over the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington. Droppings from the starlings corrode the steel structure of the bridge and are unhealthy, unsafe and unpleasant for bridge users. These techniques are used nearly every winter.
