Oak Creek Canyon, AZ: Predicting, Evaluating & Repairing Sinkholes

ADOT crews have completed repairs to State Route 89A and the roadway is once again open to traffic (Feb. 10, 2015). The road had been closed to traffic since Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 because of damage caused from a sinkhole in the Oak Creek Canyon switchbacks.

Arizona DOT: Progress on the US 89 Cameron Roadway

The Arizona Department of Transportation is improving US 89 between State Route 64 and the Little Colorado River through Cameron on the Navajo Nation, located approximately 50 miles north of Flagstaff. This project is planned to be constructed in two main phases, with completion anticipated in Fall 2016.

Arizona DOT: Know Snow

“Ultimately, if you’re behind a plow, you’re going to get from point A to point B,” says snowplow driver Justen Williams.
The biggest challenge ADOT snowplow drivers face while plowing is other vehicles. If you find yourself near an active plow, the safest place for you to be is at least 50 feet behind it. Let the plow clear the road ahead before you drive on it.

Arizona DOT: Archeological Survey Before Construction
