Infrastructure 2010: Investment Imperative, the latest annual infrastructure report by Urban Land Institute and Ernst & Young, begins by saying “we must start treating infrastructure like an investment.” The report covers global trends in transit and rail, but this year the main focus is water infrastructure.
According to the report’s cover letter, “Water is the hidden infrastructure conundrum, with aging pipes and inadequate systems running headlong into rapid population growth in America’s most water-constrained regions…An investment in infrastructure is a promise to future generations. Done well and strategically, it can help guarantee increasing prosperity and rising standards of living.”
