There are a lot of viable passenger rail scenarios that could make good use of the station. That’s why they put it there, though I don’t expect that’s forthcoming. Besides Windsor, the Mt. Clemons Branch running the opposite direction (8 miles of which is already grade separated and designed for three tracks)is begging for development as a passenger line. Whereas the airport idea’s rather complicated it wouldn’t take much to build a subway from Cadillac Square to the station – and this has probably been contemplated and examined over and over. The bridgework and Carriage Entrance at the station seem designed with that in mind.
