NEW YORK PUBLIC TRANSIT ASSOCIATION, INC.
This report presents the infrastructure needs of urban area transit systems in Upstate New York and in Downstate Suburban Counties (other than the transit services operated by the MTA). There are over 100 transit systems that provide public transportation service outside New York City. These systems operate in nearly every county of the state and transport more than 550,000 people each day.
Bowdoin’s new solar panel complex — which includes a field of panels at the former Navy base and panels atop the Watson, Farley and Greason athletic buildings — went online in October. More than six times the size of the next largest existing solar project in Maine, this system will provide about 8% of the College’s electricity. SolarCity will install an additional 12-kW system on the new residence hall at 52 Harpswell Road later this year.

Currently, the USA Parkway is a privately built, six-mile-long road connecting from Interstate 80 into the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center east of Sparks. A proposed NDOT project will extend the Parkway by more than 12 miles to reach U.S. 50 near Silver Springs, creating an approximately 18-mile-long, four-lane state roadway between Interstate 80 and U.S. 50. The new roadway would further link the greater Reno/Sparks and Fernley/Fallon areas with the U.S. 50 Silver Springs corridor, enhancing regional mobility and creating an additional route for commuter, freight and other traffic.

In order to reconstruct the landslide-damaged roadway on US 89 between Bitter Springs and Page, ADOT contractors will move nearly one million cubic yards of rock down slope to build a stabilizing buttress.

…the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has historically funded, constructed, and maintained all public roads. With the exceptions of Alaska, Delaware, North Carolina, and West Virginia, this is in contrast to other states, which have state oversight of primary roads but local control of and funding responsibility for secondary (or county) roads…This has spurred some localities to seek ways to obtain local funding to continue their priority projects.
Responding to a clear lack of data relating to infrastructure issues, safety, and cycling routes, ORCycle proposes to connect cyclists directly with transportation planners, potentially leading to rapid improvements in the efficiency and safety of Oregon’s cycling network.

The CTA has more than 224 miles of railroad tracks across Chicago and surrounding suburbs, serving the agency’s eight rail lines. In an average weekday, there are about 2,200 train trips making stops at the system’s 145 rail stations. For more than 100 years, the ‘L’ has offered a unique perspective of Chicago.
