The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) with the City of Los Angeles as project co-lead has undertaken an Alternatives Analysis (AA) to study the East San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor. The purpose of an AA is to define, screen, and recommend alternatives to be studied as part of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Report (DEIS/DEIR).

This study provides a comprehensive assessment of current ferry operations in the state of California. this work was conducted to assist the California Department of transportation (Caltrans) comply with requirements in the federal MAp-21 legislation (the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act). MAP-21 is the first multi-year transportation authorization enacted since 2005 and funds surface transportation programs at over $105 billion for fiscal years 2013 and 2014.

How Metropolitan Planning Organizations Plan for and Fund Bicycling and Walking Investments

The new transportation law, MAP-­21, gives Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) more responsibility for distributing federal transportation funds. MPOs serving areas with more than 200,000 residents are required to use a competitive process to select projects for funding through the Transportation Alternatives Program.
