Oregon DOT Reopens Highway After Heavy Snows

ODOT and contract crews reopen Oregon 230 (West Diamond Lake Highway) after heavy snows and fallen trees block the roadway for more than a week. Several times crews had to leave due to falling trees. Hazard trees that had been sprung by the snow were also removed.

Washington, DC: Putting Power Lines Underground

The DC Power Line Undergrounding (DC PLUG) project represents a public-private partnership between the District government and Pepco that will result in the strategic undergrounding of overhead feeders in Wards 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8…Through this initiative, the high-voltage feeders most affected by outages will be installed underground. Approximately half of the District is already served by undergound lines. Secondary and service lines will remain overhead on the existing poles.

Jacksonville, FL: Moving Giant Metal Tanks Through JAXPORT

Highly trained master riggers moved nine oversized specialty tanks through JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal, home of one of the nation’s highest weight-bearing capacity docks…The new pressurized steel evaporator tanks, which arrived at JAXPORT from Zhangjiagang, China, are 45-feet in length, 20-feet in diameter, and weigh 220,000 pounds each.
