Changing cultural preferences for transportation are evident from both younger (millennials) and older generations (baby boomers). A large portion of these populations express a desire to live in communities that are bikeable, walkable and have transit.
TRIP
Iowa must improve its system of roads, highways and bridges to foster economic growth and keep businesses in the state. In addition to economic growth, transportation improvements are needed to ensure safe, reliable mobility and quality of life for all residents. Meeting Iowa’s need to modernize and maintain its system of roads, highways and bridges will require a significant boost in local, state and federal funding.
Colorado Dept. of Transportation provides informative video on the benefits of highway express lanes, which speed up traffic flow, manage congestion, and bolster revenue to transportation agencies.

Appropriate pricing strategies can raise revenues and manage demand, keeping costs down. On the other hand, when transportation system users do not see appropriate price signals, demand is artificially high, increasing congestion and pressure for new capacity. State departments of transportation generally cannot impose price signals on their own, but they can work with a variety of stakeholders and decision-makers, from legislators to insurance companies, to accomplish these goals.

Meeting South Carolina’s need to modernize and maintain its system of roads, highways and bridges will require a significant boost in local, state and federal funding.
The Arizona Department of Transportation is improving US 89 between State Route 64 and the Little Colorado River through Cameron on the Navajo Nation, located approximately 50 miles north of Flagstaff. This project is planned to be constructed in two main phases, with completion anticipated in Fall 2016.
