“We just held a rally here in DC with all of the organizations within the water sector to get that point to legislators, to bring it to senators and members of the House…They heard that message, it resonated, it resounded, but until it really does start to come from the people, and it becomes a citizen-based question and a ratepayer-based issue, we’re not going to see that traction develop…The question becomes: how many Sandys, Katrinas, Flints, Toledos does it take for the federal government to ultimately realize this isn’t a local issue and it’s not a one-off issue? Preserving these water and wastewater systems is a vital, national need.”

Our goal was to gain insight on what voters find relevant in the infrastructure discussion, along with ideas on how to move things forward.

Benchmarking Air Emissions of the 100 Largest Electric Power Producers in the United States

This report examines and compares the stack air pollutant emissions of the 100 largest power producers in the United States based on their 2015 generation, plant ownership, and emissions data. Table 1 lists the 100 largest power producers featured in this report ranked by their total electricity generation from fossil fuel, nuclear, and renewable energy facilities. These producers include public and private entities1 (collectively referred to as “companies” or “producers” in this report) that own roughly 2,900 power plants and account for 85 percent of reported electric generation and 86 percent of the industry’s reported emissions.

Public, private stakeholder input sought on infrastructure regulatory reform

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) recently announced it has published a Federal Register notice seeking public input on regulatory reform regarding infrastructure projects, including the identification of hurdles that currently exist and how to alleviate them. Those interested in offering comments have until July 24 to respond.

Transportation Infrastructure: Notice of Review of Policy, Guidance, and Regulation

Trump’s Air Traffic Control Privatization Proposal: Stakeholder Reactions

This week, President Trump announced a proposal to privatize air traffic control throughout our nation’s aviation system. If the proposal becomes law, the FAA will no longer be responsible for managing air traffic control; instead, the responsibility will be delegated to a nonprofit corporation headed by board members representing various sectors of the aviation industry.

Congressional Roadblock

The current infrastructure permitting process is insane – even crazier than you can imagine. And only Congress can fix it. Congress needs to do it’s job and streamline the approval process and get America building. Our nation’s economic competitiveness depends on it.
