Great American Infrastructure: The Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel

This is the tenth in a series of entries celebrating infrastructure achievements in the United States.

The Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel, the highest vehicular tunnel in the world, lies entirely within the Arapaho National Fores…During construction approximately 1 million cubic yards of material was cleared from each bore. 190,000 cubic yards of concrete was used for each tunnel lining.

The Precarious State of the Highway Trust Fund

On November 18, President Obama signed into law a bundle of appropriation bills for FY 2012 including appropriations for the U.S. Department of Transportation. The measure had been passed earlier in the House by a vote of 298-121 and in the Senate by a vote of 70-30.
