A new interactive report from the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) draws attention to the tens of thousands of bridges deemed structurally deficient throughout the United States. The term “structurally deficient” means that at least one of the key bridge elements–the deck, superstructure or substructure–is in poor condition.

Philadelphia International Airport – Baggage Bridge Installation Timelapse

After six months of detailed planning and coordination, we erected a 91,000-pound, 100-foot-long pre-assembled baggage conveyor bridge over the main airport departure road in less than eight hours. The work took place in the middle of the night to minimize any potential disruption to airport operations.

Tell the Congress of the United States to lift the prohibition on tolling interstate highways for the purposes of reconstruction. Give the states the ability to toll their Interstate highways specifically for rebuilding those Interstate highways. Let them have access to one more tool in the toolbox. This is not a mandate; no state would be required to toll their interstates. This simply gives states the flexibility to choose the option to use tolls if it makes sense to the individual state.
