Cars Are Expensive: Transit Savings Report

It’s probably not news that taking public transportation can save you money, but do  you have any idea how much money? The American Public Transportation Association publishes The Transit Savings Report every month, with cost comparisons for public transportation versus driving.   APTA provides info on the top 20 cities with the biggest savings, and their methodology is also explained, in order to appease (or aggravate) skeptics.

If you’re trying to convince your community to invest in public transit, APTA has also created a tool for measuring the positive effects of investment.  The Transit Benefits Calculator helps estimate jobs created, energy savings, increased business activity and more.
