WSDOT and contractor crews closed the SR 520 floating bridge and highway July 13–16, 2012, to tackle an array of jobs, including demolition of the old 84th Avenue Northeast overpass and the last remaining piece of the old 92nd Avenue Northeast overpass, both seen in this video segment. Overpass demolition made way for new lidded overpasses over the highway. Other work this weekend included setting over 200 concrete deck panels, and inspecting and repairing the floating bridge to ready it for another storm season.
The SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV Project is widening SR 520 from four to six lanes from Medina to Bellevue and includes rebuilding interchanges, installing fish-friendly culverts, and building highway lids and transit stops in the center of the highway. In 2010, WSDOT awarded the $306 million design-build contract to Eastside Corridor Constructors, a joint venture of Granite Construction Company and PCL Construction Services. – wsdot on YouTube
