The story of America’s faltering infrastructure (deteriorating roads and bridges and strained waterways and ports) is playing out in ways that consumers, manufacturers and suppliers are feeling.

Whether it’s higher home prices because the raw materials that go into the building process are more expensive to transport, or roads covered with potholes that make more car repairs a necessity, the burden of a declining transportation system is all around us.

Luckily, the bipartisan and milestone Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) is helping states, territories and tribal regions get federal funding that can modernize America’s national infrastructure.

Marsia “Marsie” Geldert-Murphey, incoming 2023 President for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), notes in this new “ATM Rewind” video that the United States has been in a “react mode” for many years and IIJA will help catapult Missouri and America into a better position for future economic growth.

Geldert-Murphey lives in Missouri and notes that project money has been designated to fix an airport, a key bridge, and a vital interchange. The money will also fund transit and repairs to waterway structures damaged by recent storms.
