A new online report from WalletHub offers a comparison of America’s 100 most-populated cities, ranking the 10 best and worst cities for driving. The AI-based financial advice company based their list on four metrics: 1) Cost of Ownership & Maintenance, 2) Traffic & Infrastructure, 3) Safety and 4) Access to Vehicles & Maintenance.
Topping the list with the best overall score is Raleigh, NC, where cost of ownership is low and infrastructure is solid. Detroit, MI finishes at the other end of the spectrum, held back by high rates of car theft, poor infrastructure and a surprisingly high cost of ownership.
The report also displays best/worst rankings along individual parameters, including time spent in congestion, likelihood of accidents and most car washes per capita.
