A timelapse video of the construction and filling of the million-gallon (3.8 million liter) Hydro Impact Basin at NASA’s Langley Research Center. The basin was dug into the ground beneath the “Gantry” facility where Apollo astronauts learned to land on the moon. It’s 115 feet long by 90 feet wide (35 x 27 meters). It will be used to validate and certify space vehicles for safe water landings.
