New York City: Introducing the MTA Genius Transit Challenge Awards

Posted by Infra on Monday, March 12th, 2018

The MTA Genius Transit Challenge is an international competition seeking innovative solutions to modernize and improve the reliability of the New York City subway system.

First opened in 1904, the New York City Subway is among the largest and busiest public transit systems in the world. Today, there are 472 stations spanning 665 miles of track, serving nearly 6 million riders a day— that’s 70 percent of all subway rides in the United States. The system offers 24/7 service spanning four boroughs, which has enabled New York to grow and thrive for over a century.

Yet as ridership has soared, changes to subway infrastructure have not kept pace. If we are to meet the modern needs of today’s and tomorrow’s New Yorkers and keep the region competitive for decades to come, we must bring our subway system into the 21st century. We are calling on the greatest minds from around the world to deliver the next generation of mass transit to New York.

Dear Friends,

It is encouraging to finally see clear signs of federal action to support a comprehensive US infrastructure investment plan.

Now more than ever, our advocacy is needed to keep stakeholders informed and connected, and to hold politicians to their promises to finally fix our nation’s ailing infrastructure.

We have already engaged nearly 280,000 users, and hoping to add many more as interest continues to grow.

We require your support in order to rise to this occasion, to make the most of this opportunity. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to InfrastructureUSA.org.
